After about a month’s hiatus, we are back with Episode 76! In this episode, we discuss our travels, our triumphs, our woes, and diabetes. We then launch into a discussion on what makes a spoiler, in an episode that is, ironically, CHOCK FULL OF SPOILERS (depending on your perspective of course). Films & TV shows discussed in this episode: Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Sixth Sense, the Crying Game, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Agents of SHIELD, the Empire Strikes Back, the Simpsons, and Braveheart. The play the Book of Mormon also gets discussed in a way Melissa deems “spoiler-ish,” though Sean does not..
In our next episode, we will be looking at movie-watching hypocrisy by examining the question, “WHY ARE WE SELECTIVE IN OUR SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF?” In other words… why do we dismiss most action films as being bullshit because they lack “realism,” and yet embrace films like Die Hard that are every bit as unrealistic? Or, why do we condemn the “nuclear fridge” in Indiana Jones 4, but turn a blind eye to other ridiculous premises in the franchise (life raft parachutes, anyone?)? How do we justify this?
