The Question, Episode 87 – Slave to Success

Episode 87 – This episode of the Question was recorded before a live studio audience of interrupting cats. Ok, maybe “audience” is being generous. But we switched things up and recorded in a new location just to test things out. Is it a success or a failure? And will you judge us for it? Take a listen as we discuss this week’s Question: Is it fair to hold artists to the standard of their previous successes?

Next week, our Question will look at how social media impacts our working lives, and whether or not it really should. We ask: Should people be subject to discipline by their employers because of their social media activity?

We’d love to hear your take on the Question! You can send e-mail to thequestionpodcast (at) gmail (dot) com, or you can leave us a message on The Question Line at (347) 9ASKUS9 ( (347) 927-5879 ). The Question, Episode 76 – Spoilers, Sweetie

After about a month’s hiatus, we are back with Episode 76! In this episode, we discuss our travels, our triumphs, our woes, and diabetes. We then launch into a discussion on what makes a spoiler, in an episode that is, ironically, CHOCK FULL OF SPOILERS (depending on your perspective of course). Films & TV shows discussed in this episode: Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Sixth Sense, the Crying Game, Captain America: Winter Soldier, Agents of SHIELD, the Empire Strikes Back, the Simpsons, and Braveheart. The play the Book of Mormon also gets discussed in a way Melissa deems “spoiler-ish,” though Sean does not..

In our next episode, we will be looking at movie-watching hypocrisy by examining the question, “WHY ARE WE SELECTIVE IN OUR SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF?” In other words… why do we dismiss most action films as being bullshit because they lack “realism,” and yet embrace films like Die Hard that are every bit as unrealistic? Or, why do we condemn the “nuclear fridge” in Indiana Jones 4, but turn a blind eye to other ridiculous premises in the franchise (life raft parachutes, anyone?)? How do we justify this?

As always, we look forward to hearing your thoughts! You can e-mail us at thequestionpodcast (at) gmail (dot) com, or you can leave us a message on The Question Line at (347) 9ASKUS9 ( (347) 927-5879 ). Please have any feedback in by Sunday, May 25th at 10pm EDT (roughly Monday May 26th at 3am UK time) to guarantee your place in the discussion.

The Question, Episode 73 – I’m Not Dead Yet!

Episode 73 has arrived! In this episode we question the morality of using technology to put the dead on screen or in advertising, but not before lamenting our own inability to use technology to welcome a very alive Andy Poulastides back to the show for this discussion. Along the way, we have an aviation-related 3 questions, get some new listener feedback, and make some really inappropriate comments about beloved actors, actresses, and historical figures.

Next week, we look at little white lies, and the ways that technology is limiting our ability to tell them. Calling in sick when you’re not sick? Better be careful what you say on facebook, or which images you post to instagram… You didn’t get my message? My phone says you were logged on at the time I sent it! These, and other scenarios are part of today’s technological world, forcing us to be more honest (or, more careful & creative liars). So, in our next episode we’d like to know, Is it a GOOD thing or a BAD thing that technology is making it difficult to tell “little white lies”???

The Question, Episode 69 – Silence Is Golden

Episode 69 has arrived! In it, we explore a brief trip to the farm and a potential new social experiment courtesy of our 3 Questions segment, before delving into our Question of the week – What do you do when you’re with someone at the movies and they won’t keep quiet?

Next week, we’ll be putting a slightly different spin on an age-old question. Everyone loves to ponder on what they’d spend the money on if they won the lottery. Often, the answers are very vague (“I’d buy a house” or “I’d buy a car”) or there’s no way that the items listed would add up to the amount won. We’ve been inspired by a contest being run in the US right now with a cash prize of $1,000,000,000 (yep, that’s 1 BILLION dollars!), and got to talking about what we’d do if we won, and decided to throw it open to you! So our next Question is: What would you do if you won A BILLION DOLLARS (please be specific!). What car would you buy, what house, and where? Let’s here all the details of how you’d spend the cash!

You can send e-mail to thequestionpodcast (at) gmail (dot) com, or you can leave us a message on The Question Line at (347) 9ASKUS9 ( (347) 927-5879 ). Details for our Twitter and Facebook Group are on the Contact Page. We look forward to your feedback!
